"There Ain't Any Santy Claus!"

In honor of Jane Wither's birthday today (she turns 84 today), here's a funny scene from "Bright Eyes" with Jane and Shirley Temple (4 minutes long).

(PS - this is a "colorized" version)

It's no wonder that Jane became a top box office star; she was one of the Top 10 box office stars in 1937 and 1938.

Most of her films are not on DVD; she had the lead role in over two dozen films.

Hopefully some will be released in a box set one day.

  2. This is probably my favorite Shirley film; the counterplay between Withers and Temple is fantastic, and crazy Uncle Ned is a hoot. This film still stands up today, and because of a strong supporting cast, it keeps Shirley from seeming too sickeningly sweet.

  3. @Clara, yeah I wanted to post something with only Jane but her movies are so hard to come by.

@Dave, one of my favorites of Shirley's too. I don't mind her too sweet, though.
