Archive clip from 2004 - Brittany Murph]y in Blockbuster

The MTV Youtube channel recently uploaded this cool short film they created almost 20 years ago with the late Brittany Murphy in Blockbuster picking her favorite movies. I never saw this but found it to be a gem and shows how cool a person she was. My favorite movie with her in it is Uptown Girls, a modern classic in my opinion.

The last Blockbuster video store

...in the Chicago area will be closing at the end of the month. Currently all of their DVDs and BluRays are on sale. 

I was just in here a few weeks ago renting the Poltergeist trilogy (yes-I rented all three films and enjoyed a marathon weekend), and the last film I rented from here was Lincoln on BluRay. 

It's sad to see it close down, but I knew this day was coming. 

Signs of the times: Blockbuster and Borders stores closing...

The nearest Blockbuster and Borders stores near me are closing their doors....

This store had been here since the early 1990s.
I applied to for a job here once while in college.

Future generations will ask, "What? They used to rent videos in a store?"

Here's the Border's store. Bought alot of books and movies here over the years.

Looks like the magazines were the first to go....

Whoever prints the "Store Closing" and "Sale!" signs must be doing good business...

I wonder if the employees got first dibs on the black leather couches that used to be here...

Future generations will be surprised to learn that they used to sell movies on DVD here, too...
